📖 Read the story carefully:
The Lost Puppy
Emma was walking home from school when she heard a soft whimpering sound coming from behind a bush. She stopped and carefully looked around the leaves. There, shivering in the cold, was a tiny brown puppy with big, sad eyes.
"Oh, you poor thing!" Emma said gently. She picked up the puppy and wrapped it in her school jersey to keep it warm. The puppy licked her hand and wagged its tail weakly.
Emma knew she should take the puppy home, but she also knew her mum had said "no pets" many times before. She bit her lip, thinking hard. Then she remembered Mrs Chen, their elderly neighbour who lived alone and often talked about how quiet her house was.
Emma walked to Mrs Chen's house and knocked on the door. When Mrs Chen answered, Emma explained about finding the puppy. Mrs Chen's face lit up with the biggest smile Emma had ever seen. "I've been so lonely since my old dog passed away," Mrs Chen said, tears of joy in her eyes. "Would you like to help me look after this little one until we find its owner?"
Emma felt her heart swell with happiness. She had helped two friends find each other.
